At first (1985-1994) the term 'emo' was used in music, which is a subgenre of rock. Over the years, this word knows a vast field of uses. This kind of music listeners have become 'emo kids', how to dress became 'emo-style', how they mack up 'emo make-up' and guess how they react 'emo-acting'. 'Emo' has been used to describe bands such as: * Jimmy Eat World * Silverstein * Paramore * The Used * The Get Up Kids * Taking Back Sunday They were labeled as emo for various reasons such as: - rhythm song - significance lyrics - how the singers are dressed or makeup etc.. Many fans are not completely disagree with the way their idols are categorized, completely denying the fact that they play music "emo". In an interview, even Guy Picciotto, was asked how he felt like 'creator emo-genre of music', he answered: "I don’t recognize that attribution. I’ve never recognized ‘emo’ as a genre of music. I always thought it was the most retarded term ever. I know there is this generic commonplace that every band that gets labeled with that term hates it. They feel scandalized by it. But honestly, I just thought that all the bands I played in were punk rock bands. The reason I think it’s so stupid is that - what, like the Bad Brains weren’t emotional? What - they were robots or something? It just doesn’t make any sense to me."
